set in a beautiful coconut palm grove right on the beach.

Relax in this Beautiful holiday home. Do not miss anything – all that you need for happiness is here.

Accommodation

The house is in a lodge called Palm Grove Lodge, which is next door to Barra Lodge on the Praie de Barra, 22 kms from the town of Inhambane. The lodge is set in a beautiful coconut palm grove right on the beach. The road is tarred the whole way.

The house has 5 bedrooms, 2 are en-suite, with another 3rd bathroom. (all showers). There is electricity and hot water (geyser). Fresh water is available from the well on the premises, the tap water isn’t drinkable. There are large water containers in the house, the staff will refill when necessary.

The house is fully fitted with all kitchen equipment, linen etc, just not towels.

There is a pub and restaurant on the beach, as well as a pool. There are plenty of other pubs and restaurants along the beach and in the area.  There are plenty of bottle stores with great beers so not necessary to take any.

Bread, fruit and fish/prawns can be bought at the house or on the beach, or at the market in town. There is lots of fruit and veg too.

There is a dive center on site, the diving is very good. There are also many other activities, such as snorkelling, dolphin/whale watching, catamaran trips, kayaking, quad biking, horse riding on the beach, etc. There are also other operators who arrange activities as well as hire our equipment such as surf boards etc.

We have 2 (male) staff who look after the house. You can get a maid for your stay, the cost will be additional. She will do cleaning every day, washing etc. Most of them don’t speak English but Thomas (one of the men), can translate.

There is a gas stove/oven, and a built- in braai outside. We request special care to be taken when braaiing as fire is a huge risk.

Additional Information

There is electricity and hot water (geyser). The power is on a pay-as-you-go system which we recharge before your arrival. The power supply can be slightly erratic during peak times.

We suggest you take basic foodstuffs, incl meat, cold meat, cheese etc. although you can buy pretty much anything there.

The usual cold-drinks eg cokes, fantas etc are all freely available.

Cost of everything depends on the exchange rate which has been about 3.5 mets to R1. Basically things may be slightly more expensive than here, especially in December or other peak holiday times.

There are lots of petrol stations, the closest to our house is about 8 kms on the Tofo road.

Money can be exchanged at the market, the rate may be slightly more than before the border. DO NOT change money AT the border, they are great rip-off artists. We can give you all the info necessary for when crossing over. Money can also be drawn from the ATM’s in the town.

Please let us know if you have any further specific queries.
